After his older brother, Edmund, dies, Lord Skylar is called home to London and is expected take over his title and marry. Sky's father has chosen his bride, Lady Gillian, and despite an instant distaste for each other, an attraction grows between them and they marry.
When, on their wedding night, Sky discovers that Gillian lost her virginity at 17, and has kept it a secret, he becomes enraged and sends her away to his Yorkshire estate.
