Fancy Free
by: Charlotte Grey

Fawcett, September 1987

Fifteen years in Miss Bassenthwaite's Academy! Harriet was yearning for adventure. With none forthcoming, the orphaned Harriet Devenish created a fictitious guardian and proceeded to regale her fellow students with his daring exploits abroad. So carried away was Harriet, she began posting letters to the make-believe Lord Richard, who could be anywhere from Paris to Portugal. No one was more surprised than Harriet herself when Lord Richard all dashing six feet of him came calling to have a look at his charge! But Lord Richard would soon regret his curiosity in seeking out his mysterious letter-writer, for now he had to proclaim his long-lost ward to all the world and keep the fetching creature out of mischief.
Colonel Lord Richard Halton and Miss Harriet Devenish
