Darkness and the Dawn, The
by: Susan Feldhake

Zondervan, April 1996

Evil clashes with good in a small Minnesota town when a Gypsy girl comes to stay at the Grant Hotel. She inherited a crystal ball, occult books, and tarot cards from her grandmother - as well as the strange power that draws her to Billy. But when she begins reading tarot cards at the local tavern, the Christians of the community confront her and fight the forces of evil for her soul.

'As soon as I'm settled in upstairs, ' Lolly said as she registered at the Grant Hotel, 'I'm going to know what's in the cards for me.' At first Lizzie did not grasp what the dark-haired young woman meant - but it suddenly became clear that this exotic guest was not about to seek guidance from heaven. When her husband returned, Lizzie quietly said, 'Brad, we've got us a problem - a mighty big problem!'
