| Throughout her several careers, Dorice Nelson, a former Capital District resident, never dreamed she’d write a novel. After an early retirement and a move to the mountains of upstate New York, where she lives with her attorney husband (also an author), a happy-go-lucky mixed breed dog and two personality-plus cats, she entered the world of writing with both feet. She freely admits it’s the most difficult yet satisfying career of her life.|
She sold her very first novel, THE GUNN OF KILLEARNAN, a historic and romantic adventure, set in 1650 Scotland during the time of the War of the Covenant. Along with excellent reviews, the novel has received the Scribe’s World Reviewer’s Choice Award and won the Love Romances Best of 2001 Award in two categories, Best Historical Romance and Best e-Romance! The novel is also a finalist in the Ohio Valley RW chapter’s Notable New Author of 2001 Award contest, the placements to be disclosed in April 2002 and the Virginia RWA Holt Medallion to be disclosed June 22nd.
UNLAWFUL, another historic and romantic adventure set in Irish medieval times when the Viking raids were numerous, came out in January to great reviews, great sales and the Word Weaving Award of Excellence. Both books are with NovelBooks, Incorporated, a small press located in Massachusetts.
