Reviewer Comments: If you are looking for a story where the heroine is willing to do everything for the hero, this may be the story for you. So what if she is his ward ? So what if he is known as the wicked earl, with a tainted past and a former convict ? More importantly, so what if he is married ? She loves him, she believes there is a softer, kinder side in him and she wants to be with him.
The negativity of adultery between the two main characters is kept at a minimum since Nicholas' wife abandons him when he returns home after his imprisonment and she is far from being a faithful wife herself. Is that reason alone good enough to excuse his own infidelity too ? You've to decide yourself.
Personally, I do not feel too comfortable with the heroine's "overwhelming" attitude towards love, taking the initiative in almost every stage of their relationship. Nicholas, being the tortured hero, shows his vulnerability throughout the story, giving the need perhaps, of Elizabeth's active role in loving him.
I prefer the side story of Nicholas' younger sister unfortunately her romance has taken up only a few pages. The hero of the next story, 'Perfect Sin', Rand, appears in here as Nicholas' good friend hence you can expect Nicholas and Elizabeth to reappear in some scenes in the next book.
Reviewer Comments: It's a captivating book, which one wouldn't want to put down. I found extremely sweet in more than one ways. The characters are all wonderful and heroic in their own nature. It's really romantic when a guardian becomes a lover.. in a way.. wrong of course but nevertheless juicy enough for a romance novel. Elizabeth is a sweet lass in desperate need of help as she's being harrassed by this horrible man so naturally in comes along Nick the hero of the story...or more so her hero. It's good that she always stayed loyal to Nicholas despite his past. I think that's important for a person to accpet the past before the future. However I don't fully approve on Elizabeth showing her compelling desire for Nicholas but I won't hold it against her. She's human with desires and needs and it's the 21st century time to be open minded.. but it's always cooler to have the guy wooing the girl and not the girl throwing herself at his feet... or bed in this matter. Nicholas is naturally your tall dark charming seductive man... i give him all plusses. However as all romance novels, the guys turn to mush much after they mention the three words "I love you". It's sweet and passionate and nothing to fault for. Oh and you so cannot miss Rand Clayton, he is a wonderful friend to both of them and if he were real i'd wish he were my friend. He's charming and all that and i'm happy there's a story for him too in the book Perfect Sin. You won't get bored with this story. However you might find it similar to that of Julie Garwood's Castles.
